A Better Festival
It sounds good—a Feast of Tabernacles that truly inspires and adds value to people's lives. But how can we cause that to happen?
Actually, inspiration is the domain of the Holy Spirit. We can't order up inspiration.
But, if we do what God tells us to do, coupled with our own creativity, the Holy Spirit can then flow. All we have to do is line up with it and God will take care of the inspiration.
Here is what we do at LifeResource:
Learning by Doing
All major universities and good teachers know that students learn best by doing. Jesus didn't just tell the disciples about evangelism, he sent them out to do it.
At the LifeResource sponsored festival, we are active. We do things, rather than just sitting and listening for 8 days.
It's About Relationships
If you think about the times you were inspired, it usually involved someone else or a group. Relationships are woven into the fabric of the human heart and the plan of God. We are becoming a family.
It's only a short step from that knowledge to the creation of a "relational field" at the Feast that makes it easy to get to know others and be known by them on a more meaningful level.
We eat together, we work together, we play together, we learn together. When we do that, it's amazing what God can do with us.
Meaning from Purpose
While many head off for the Feast to have a good time, we focus on helping people get in touch with their purpose. There is nothing more inspiring than that.
Rather than talking about it from behind a pulpit, we help people find and hone their spiritual gifts. We promote their gift-based ministries (or service).
Could it be possible that the Church of God is dead in the water because most of us don’t know what God wants us to do?
Even our children can learn about that.
Perhaps all this is a bit intimidating to think about. However, if we let intimidation rule us, we have only ourselves to blame for living in a spiritual half life.
God many have to walk us gently into the grave without us ever learning what we were put here to do.
How sad.
But if we are willing to step out of our comfort zone and really live the moral life, we have a big, exciting surprise ahead.
