| What is Camp Outreach for Teens?
Camp Outreach for Teens is a weekend summer camp created to foster fellowship and connection with peers while learning how to Tdo community outreach.
The following information is pre-camp.
Soon we will have a recap of how it all went.
Application Deadline: June 10, 2008
This summer teens ages 12 to 18 will have an opportunity to participate in a 3 day camp including:
- service project in the community,
- a worship service geared to topics of their interest and
- a boat load of fun
activities like water skiing, fishing, canoeing, volleyball, campfires, etc.
Why would this kind of actiivty be helpful to teens?
Developmentally, teens are working on peer relationships. This focused growth will help them for the rest of their lives. It is especially helpful at this time for teens to have quality fun time with those of their own faith as well as age.
The community service project element connects directly to the relational work teens are doing. It moves them out into the community to interact with other from a platform of helpfulness.
We don't sponsor camps any longer that don't include this component, because it is so essential to the work of the Church and teens are at a time in their development where these spiritual skills and values are easily learned.
